Pacific County’s Department of Community Development runs a drinking water laboratory in its Environmental Health Division. Samples are accepted from the public at the county offices in South Bend and Long Beach.
Tests. Coliform bacteria presence/absence. Membrane filter testing is by request only and must be scheduled with Environmental Health at least two weeks ahead. Nitrate is not offered.
Prices. The county’s water sampling page (viewed 2026-10-24) lists $60.00 per test for coliform presence/absence or membrane filter testing, due when the sample is submitted.
Drop-off.
- Samples must be in a county-provided container.
- Tuesdays only: South Bend office (1216 W Robert Bush Drive) 7:30am to noon, and Long Beach office (7013 Sandridge Rd) 7:30am to 11am.
- If the office is closed for a holiday on the Tuesday or Wednesday, samples are not accepted that week.
- The county notes that, until further notice, it may not reliably read coliform results in discolored samples and suggests another lab for discolored water.
Accreditation. Ecology accreditation H809 (current certificate H809-26), covering total coliform and E. coli in drinking water. The Department of Health lists the lab for coliform testing.
