Exact Scientific Services is a testing lab at 1355 Pacific Place in Ferndale. Its water testing page says it offers compliance testing “for public water systems and home owners” and helps homeowners troubleshoot their wells and home treatment systems.
Tests for homeowners.
- Coliform and E. coli bacteria, which the lab notes are needed for building permits.
- Nitrate.
- A homeowner chemical panel (the Whatcom short list): arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, mercury, selenium, fluoride, nitrate, silver, sodium, chloride and lead.
- A homeowner nuisance panel: iron, manganese, hardness, conductivity, turbidity and pH.
Sampling. The site posts chain of custody forms for drinking water and water chemistry. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. The site does not describe bottle pickup or drop-off, so call the lab before sampling. No prices are published.
Accreditation. Ecology accreditation C899 (current certificate C899-26a). Ecology’s drinking water scope includes coliform and E. coli, nitrate, and metals including arsenic and lead. The Department of Health lists the lab for nitrate and coliform testing of private wells.
