Bach Drilling is a family-owned well driller in Ellensburg, in Kittitas County. The family’s drilling business dates to 1894 in Michigan and has worked in Kittitas County since 1943. It drills throughout the county, from the valley to the mountains, including the Cle Elum area.
Wells. The company drills wells from 6-inch domestic wells up to 30-inch fish hatchery wells. Its home page features domestic wells and an irrigation well drilled for drought relief. Its history page lists municipal water systems for the Hyak and Snoqualmie ski areas and for Easton, Thorp, Ellensburg, Vantage, Cle Elum and Walla Walla, plus work for Grand Coulee Dam and hatchery wells at Bonneville Dam.
How it works. Before drilling, Bach studies well logs in the area to estimate depth and cost, then visits the property to discuss the well site. Consultations are free. While drilling, it tells the customer when it reaches water so the owner can decide on the final depth. The FAQ says the company prefers to keep working one well to make it produce rather than drill several holes. Its water issues page links to information on Kittitas County’s exempt well rules and water bank.
Licensing. Ecology’s driller search lists two water well operators at the company, one also holding a resource protection license. L&I lists general contractor, plumbing (pump and irrigation) and electrical (pump and irrigation) registrations.
